March for an AI Treaty
Trump is about to meet Xi Jinping in China.
It's time they make a deal to stop the AI arms race.
Why are we protesting?
In March and July, Stop The AI Race protested outside AI companies, asking their CEOs to commit to pausing if others did too. Since then, Anthropic and OpenAI have said that, under the right conditions, they'd support an internationally coordinated slowdown.
From July to September, we protested daily outside Anthropic and OpenAI, asking them to urge the US government to negotiate a treaty. They did call for a slowdown. What we got instead was a White House meeting that ended in voluntary commitments.
The time of voluntary commitments is over. On Nov 18, Trump meets Xi Jinping. We're asking them to start negotiating an international AI Treaty that bans the development of more powerful AI systems until we can proceed safely.
